Position: Manufacturing / Process Engineer (Automotive)

Manpower Engineering is seeking a Manufacturing/Process Engineering Group Lead to oversee Manufacturing Engineering functions supporting powertrain and propulsion programs. This leader will guide an engineering team in developing and launching robust manufacturing processes that meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives for New Model (NM), Non-New Model (NNM), and adaptation programs.

This is a long-term contract role through at least 2028, with potential for direct hire consideration. This position is 100% onsite at the Trenton, MI plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead assessments for process changes and determine investment needs for cost studies.
  • Oversee engineering scope development, RFQs, sourcing, technical reviews, design, build, and installation of manufacturing equipment.
  • Manage and prioritize NNM powertrain program requests, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Direct all facilities-related aspects of NM programs, including site preparation and machine installation.
  • Drive program execution using the Iron Triangle principles:
    Scope, Timing, and Cost.
  • Lead team adoption of Stellantis Production Way (SPW) methodology, including advanced tools and structured root-cause problem solving.
  • Develop and enhance process and equipment standards for manufacturing engineering.
  • Support sister plants in Kokomo, IN and Dundee, MI (0–20% travel).
  • Promote manufacturing standardization across North American and global sites.
  • Lead procurement, design, build, installation, qualification, and launch of facilities, equipment, and supporting infrastructure.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a technical equivalent.
  • 7+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and present data to leadership in clear formats.
  • Experience implementing modern manufacturing principles (e.g., SPW).
  • Demonstrated leadership, team-building, coaching, and mentoring capabilities.
  • Proven ability to plan and execute large-scale projects on time and within budget.
  • Ability to lead in a bargaining-unit environment.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and support teams developing and launching powertrain manufacturing processes.
  • Willingness to travel to Dundee, MI and Kokomo, IN as needed.
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities, including data-driven root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of cost studies and strategic planning (preferred).
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced engineering or technical degree.
  • Ability to translate complex technical data into concise executive summaries.
  • Powertrain manufacturing experience.
