About the Unit
The Ambulatory Pre‑op and PACUs at Trenton are a fast‑paced critical care unit that specializes in the preparation and recovery of patients undergoing surgical procedures. The department includes units for both outpatient and inpatient surgeries. Staff who join our units should be teamwork oriented and possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and decision‑making skills.

It is one of four recipients of the Truven Health Advantage Award in the category of Health and Clinical Outcomes. The hospital hosts nine university‑affiliated residency programs and offers Level II trauma care along with nationally recognized heart, vascular, pulmonary, orthopedics, neurosurgery, and women’s health specialties.
ResponsibilitiesThe RN, in accordance with the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the nursing process to provide professional nursing care. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and discharge, while incorporating patient‑family centered care principles. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader, follows Corewell Health policies and procedures, and partners with patients and families to develop teaching strategies and document education in the health record.
Qualifications- Associate’s degree in Nursing required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
- Graduates from a non‑accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute‑care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health‑care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
- Registered Nurse (RN) required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at hire from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke.
- Two years of acute‑care RN experience required.
- Procedural nursing experience preferred.
