RN Surgical Unit Weekend Program Saturday and Sunday
The Weekend Program helps to support staffing needs on the unit and has a schedule consisting of every Saturday and Sunday from 7:00pm to 7:30am. As part of this program, hours worked in this time frame are eligible for a premium rate in addition to the base rate of pay.

5 Surgical is a 24-bed unit with all private rooms. We primarily care surgical and trauma patients, these surgeries include bariatric, general, trauma and gynecological patients. Although our focus is surgical and trauma related, we also care for patients with medical conditions as well. We are equipped to monitor up to 8 patients on portable telemetry monitors. The Surgical Unit is a wonderful place to advance in your nursing skills to include critical thinking, time management, assessment, and patient satisfaction.
We are a talented and engaged team that is focused on patient safety and have maintained high-quality scores. Trenton is a Magnet Designated hospital with Level Two Trauma, and Stroke Certification. We are proud of the commitment in shared governance as it has strengthened the relationship between staff and our leadership team.
The clinical nurse, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles. The Clinical Nurse provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to policies and procedures.
Qualifications Required- Associate's Degree or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate’s degree or equivalent.
- Required Bachelor's Degree B.S.N., or M.S.N, or DNP/PhD - if not minimum BSN prepared, new graduate/nurse with less than one (1) year experience is required to enroll in an accredited BSN program within one (1) year of licensure date and complete within five (5) years, required.
