Steel Tool & Engineering is looking for a dedicated Equipment Technician in Michigan to join our team full-time. In this role, you'll tackle hands-on challenges every day, keeping our machinery and facilities running smoothly.

WHAT DOES YOUR DAY ENTAIL?
As an Equipment Technician, you will spend your day diagnosing and repairing production assembly systems, press systems, hydraulic, electrical, CNC, and pneumatic equipment. You will identify and inspect machines in need of repair, plan work using blueprints or equipment manuals, and perform general maintenance tasks that keep everything operating efficiently. Your day will include preventative maintenance, cleaning or changing filters, topping off fluids, repairing drywall, painting, fixing doors and other building fixtures, and changing lights, outlets, and switches.
You will maintain a clean work area, assist the Lead Technician when needed, and input minor maintenance data into our computer systems to track your work.
REQUIREMENTS FOR A EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year(s) of experience with CNC machining centers, mills, lathes, or EDMs
- Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings
- Knowledge of control I/O cards, axis motors, spindles, encoders, and press hydraulics
- Mechanical experience in machine tool alignment, installing linear guides, ball screws, saddles, and slides, and laser positioning adjustments
- General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and building repairs
- Ability to use hand or power tools, forklifts, scissor lifts, and man lifts (on-the-job training provided if necessary)
- Ability to climb ladders, bend, crawl into awkward spaces, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to work with oils, solvents, minor dust, as well as wear all required PPE
