Statutory Accounting Manager | P&C Insurance

A growing P&C Insurance company is growing its accounting team and is seeking an experienced Statutory Accounting Manager with a strong insurance background. This is a hands‑on insurance Stat role inside a large, centralized controllership group. You’ll report directly to the Insurance AVP and own Statutory (Yellow Book / NAIC) reporting across regulated insurance entities, with 2 direct reports

Hybrid 3 days/week in Shorthills, NJ

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and support statutory financial reporting (Yellow Book):
  Own Yellow Book & NAIC filings
• Manage quarterly and annual statutory close
• Prepare and review statutory statements, schedules & footnotes
• Lead stat audits and regulator interactions
• Manage and develop 2 staff accountants
• · Partner with GAAP & SEC teams (GAAP exposure helpful, but Stat is the focus)
• Assist with insurance accounting operations, including month‑end close and general ledger activities

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of experience in insurance accounting
• Background with an insurance carrier preferred;
  Big 4 experience also considered
• Working knowledge of statutory accounting and reporting requirements
• Experience with GL implementations or accounting system upgrades is a plus
• Comfortable operating in a fast‑changing environment with evolving structures
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
