The Village Charter School is seeking a passionate and dedicated ELA Teacher to join our educational team. This role is crucial in cultivating a passion for literacy and language arts among young learners within a collaborative and supportive charter school environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating an engaging and supportive classroom environment that promotes academic growth and personal development.
Stipend opportunities are available ranging from $2,000 to $4,000.
Employment Terms

Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s from an accredited college or university in an education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
Experience
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience desired but not required.
- Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
New Jersey Certification / License
- Requires a subject‑specific endorsement (e.g., Mathematics, Science, Social Studies) and completion of the required course in the "characteristics of young adolescents".
Position Purpose
The classroom teacher is the primary architect of the student learning experience, responsible for designing and executing a rigorous, standards‑aligned instructional program. This role fosters academic achievement and social‑emotional growth for students ranging in grades K‑8 by creating a supportive environment where every student can succeed.
Essential Functions
- Instructional Delivery:
Executes high‑quality instruction in assigned subject areas following the VCS Board‑adopted curriculum and New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS). - Lesson Planning:
Develops daily lesson plans and instructional materials that provide for individualized and small‑group instruction to meet diverse learner needs. - Data‑Driven Instruction:
Utilizes formative and summative assessments to measure student growth, analyze performance data, and adjust teaching strategies accordingly. - Classroom Management:
Establishes and maintains a safe, productive, and inclusive learning environment by enforcing school‑wide behavioral expectations and the VCS code of conduct. - IEP/504 Compliance:
Adheres strictly to all Individualized Education Program (IEP) and 504 Plan requirements, ensuring mandated modifications and accommodations are implemented. - Collaboration:
Actively participates in the Student Intervention Team (SIT), grade‑level meetings, and professional learning communities (PLCs). - Communication:
Maintains consistent, professional communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress and behavior via phone, email, and conferences.
