The Architecture program offers an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree designed to prepare students for transfer to four-year professional architecture programs and related fields. The curriculum emphasizes design thinking, architectural history and theory, drafting, digital tools, sustainability, and foundational technical skills. The successful candidate will join a collaborative, student-centered department and contribute to high-quality instruction, curriculum development, assessment, and service to the College.

The Faculty member in Architecture is responsible for teaching a full-time load of architecture courses; maintaining an active, inclusive learning environment; advising students; and participating in departmental, divisional, and college-wide service activities in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.

  • Teach a full load of lower-division architecture courses, which may include design studio, architectural graphics, drafting, digital modeling, architectural history, theory, and related subjects.
  • Develop and deliver course content that aligns with program learning outcomes and transfer expectations.
  • Incorporate current practices, technologies, and issues in architecture, including sustainability, building systems, and professional standards.
  • Use inclusive, student-centered pedagogical approaches that support diverse learners.
  • Assess student learning and participate in program-level and institutional assessment activities.
  • Hold regular office hours and provide academic advising to architecture students.
  • Collaborate with full-time and adjunct faculty on curriculum development and course sequencing.
  • Participate in recruitment, outreach, and retention initiatives for the Architecture program.
  • Engage in service to the department, division, and College through committee work and shared governance.
  • Remain current in the field of architecture through professional development, practice, research, or related scholarly activity.
  • Provide leadership in the coordination and ongoing development of the Architecture program, including managing program-level assessment initiatives; collaborating with and supporting adjunct faculty; developing, scheduling, and maintaining coherent course offerings and sequences; and strengthening articulation agreements and transfer pathways with four-year architecture and design programs to ensure student success and seamless transfer.
