The Biology Teacher will provide engaging, NGSS/NJSLS aligned, standards-based instruction in biology to high school students, using a variety of teaching methods and classroom technologies to support different learning styles. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and delivering lessons, developing assessments, grading and providing constructive feedback, and maintaining accurate records of student progress. The educator will create a safe, inclusive classroom environment, support laboratory activities and hands‑on investigations, and collaborate with colleagues, counselors, and administrators to reinforce curricular goals.
Additional duties include participating in professional development, communicating regularly with families and caregivers, and contributing to school‑wide initiatives and committees as needed. This is a full-time, on‑site role located in Trenton, NJ.
- Demonstrated expertise in Biology and related life sciences, with the ability to make complex concepts accessible and engaging.
- Proven teaching experience at the secondary level and status as a qualified teacher, including familiarity with curriculum standards and assessment practices.
- Strong lesson‑planning skills, including designing differentiated instruction, labs, and activities that align with learning objectives.
- Effective communication skills, including clear instructional delivery, constructive feedback to students, and professional communication with families and colleagues.
- Valid state teaching certification in Biology or eligibility to obtain appropriate certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, science education, or a related field; advanced degree is preferred.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, culturally responsive classroom and supporting a diverse student population.
- Ability to integrate educational technology and data-informed practices to enhance student learning and engagement.
