Summary:
The Automation Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and lifecycle support of manufacturing automation systems in regulated Med Tech, Healthcare, and Pharmaceutical environments. The role ensures that automation solutions are compliant, reliable, and aligned with GMP, GAMP 5, FDA, and EU regulatory requirements
, while supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations.
- Design, develop, and maintain automation and control systems supporting manufacturing, packaging, and laboratory operations.
- Implement and support PLC, SCADA, DCS, HMI, and MES-integrated automation solutions in regulated environments.
- Participate in automation lifecycle activities including URS, FDS, HDS, SDS, FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, and PQ.
- Ensure automation systems comply with GMP, GAMP 5, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, EU MDR, and data integrity (ALCOA+) requirements.
- Collaborate with Quality, Validation, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to deliver compliant and production-ready solutions.
- Support change control, deviation management, CAPA, and audit readiness related to automation systems.
- Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting of automation and control system issues to minimize downtime.
- Implement cybersecurity, backup, and disaster recovery best practices for manufacturing control systems.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives
, including system upgrades, standardization, and performance optimization. - Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and support vendors/system integrators.
- Maintain automation documentation
, standards, and SOPs throughout the system lifecycle.
- Ensures regulatory compliance and data integrity
- Improves manufacturing efficiency, reliability, and safety
- Enables scalable and future-ready automation platforms
- Supports successful regulatory inspections and audits
