Position SummaryThis Program Manager, Technical Operations reports directly to the Head of Manufacturing Science and Technology and serves as the operational backbone for a mid-sized pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in New Jersey. The role leads cross-functional teams to deploy global technical operations initiatives, streamline processes across a multi-site network, and drive measurable improvements in manufacturing performance.
This is not a background role. The person in this seat is the driving force behind scientifically sound, data-driven change — translating global strategy into site-level execution across a facility that manufactures and packages solid, powder, semi-solid, nasal spray, and liquid dosage form pharmaceuticals. If you are energized by solving complex operational problems and building the systems that prevent them from recurring, this is the work.
WhatYou Will Do
- Champion and implement a global continuous improvement program, embedding a high-performance culture across manufacturing operations.
- Collect and analyze data using statistical tools to identify improvement opportunities across all cross-functional departments.
- Lead and facilitate root cause analysis and problem-solving using Lean principles.
- Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Materials Management, and Engineering to establish shared goals and meaningful KPIs.
- Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to improve and sustain product robustness and process reliability.
- Diagnose workflow impediments and waste throughout manufacturing and testing processes — then lead the work to eliminate them.
- Implement best practices for process optimization across all organizational levels; identify inefficiencies that drive unnecessary cost.
- Conduct value stream mapping, risk assessments, and FMEA on business processes; develop risk communication and mitigation strategies.
- Form and lead cross-functional project teams, providing daily direction to ensure technical operations initiatives are executed on plan.
- Manage day-to-day relationships with key stakeholders on assigned initiatives.
- Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate project management tools.
- Track project progress to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
- Manage budget tracking and facilitate reconciliation of services against scopes of work.
- Serve as a liaison between the global network of manufacturing sites, sharing best practices and continuous improvement tools.
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Process Engineering, or a related Life Science or Engineering discipline.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification required;
Black Belt certification strongly preferred. - 5–10 years of proven experience as a process engineer or technical operations leader in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Subject matter expertise in pharmaceutical manufacturing, packaging, and testing equipment.
- Experience with generic pharmaceutical operations across solid, liquid, semi-solid, and nasal spray technologies is a meaningful differentiator.
- Demonstrated proficiency with project management tools; PMP® certification preferred.
- Process Excellence
