The Head of Investment Risk Management will lead the investment risk management function for a global P&C reinsurance company, reporting to the Chief Investment Officer and working closely with the Group Chief Risk Officer, capital modelling team, audit, technology, finance, accounting, legal, tax, and treasury. The position is hybrid, with 3 days in the office (Warren or NYC) and 2 days remote.
Responsibilities- Ensure proper risk management across all investment portfolios.
- Chair the Asset Risk Committee (ARC).
- Monitor portfolio asset duration positioning relative to liability durations across legal entities and geographies to ensure reasonable interest rate risk tolerances.
- Monitor foreign exchange (F/X) exposures.
- Measure and report on key deterministic and stochastic risk metrics such as VAR and t-VAR at various confidence intervals.
- Coordinate with the Group Chief Risk Officer on controls and modelling to align with overall enterprise risk management.
- Coordinate with underwriting business units to aggregate and monitor overlapping credit exposures.
- Prepare and coordinate risk‑related investment reporting for senior management, the investment committee, and the board of directors.
- Oversee information systems initiatives within the Investments domain.
- Collaborate with other groups across the firm on transversal initiatives.
- 8+ years of work experience in investment management or insurance risk management.
- MBA or MS in Risk Management, Finance, or Financial Engineering preferred.
- CFA designation preferred.
- Strong communication skills.
- Highly quantitative; strong Excel and modeling skills required.
- Ability to summarize complex ideas succinctly.
- Ability to collaborate with others.
- Strong work ethic.
- High ethical standards.
Base salary range: $303,000 - $375,000 annually. Total compensation package includes health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401(k) match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
