This role could be based in China or Hong Kong.
Key Responsibilities- Support management of Markets’ consumption of SCB’s binding Balance Sheet Metrics including LCR, NSFR, RWA and Intragroup Large exposure.
- Identity and facilitate Balance Sheet Optimisation initiatives.
- Be informed of existing and new rules and regulations on Capital, Liquidity and Margining and understand impact on Markets business.
- Within the business mandate, support unique funding asks which TM may be unable to provide, to better serve our clients.
- Support Markets’ balance sheet planning by actively communicating with Markets Trading Desks and Sales to manage Market’s funding pipeline and work with Treasury and FRM to better manage Markets’ funding ask.
- Facilitate liquidity profile optimisation for Markets business within risk limit and MAT.
- Support Markets’ overall balance sheet management and help Markets minimise regulatory liquidity and capital cost.
- Consistently work with the business and Treasury to optimise liquidity, balance sheet and inventory.
- Manage daily funding activities in China within the country’s overall Markets funding framework; partner with Treasury China to simplify and streamline process/policy for robust governance and reporting.
- Arrange funding transactions according to Markets internal funding booking model, including derivatives collateral margining funding.
- Facilitate optimisation of funding mix including swap funding and other hedging as required, operating within market risk and other related risk metrics.
- Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values, setting tone and expectations with the team and collaborating with risk and control partners.
- Identify, assess, monitor, control and mitigate risks to the Group, and understand the main risks facing the Group and the role’s part in managing them.
- Manage market risk and PnL arising from funding and corresponding hedging transactions including FX and interest rate derivatives, ensuring operation within dealing mandate and all relevant risk limit.
- Assess the effectiveness of the Group's arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls, and oversee changes in these areas if necessary.
- Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
- Embed the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
- Identify, elevate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters collaboratively.
- Dealing experience in financial instruments such as FX swaps and interest rate swaps.
- Competency in analysing market risk and PnL on trading positions.
- Knowledge and understanding of key balance sheet metrics (LCR, NSFR, leverage ratio, RWA, etc.).
- Graduate qualifications (or conversions):
Post-Graduate qualifications such as MBA, CFA, Chartered Accountancy, Mathematics/Statistics, Qualified Lawyer. - Over 2 to 10 years (Analyst to Director) of relevant experience in the banking and financial services industry, with hands‑on experience of underwriting, managing and recovering credit exposures across both developing and developed jurisdictions.
- Good knowledge of Global Markets businesses and balance sheet management, including market and regulatory dynamics.
- Experience in funding activities related to derivatives trading and related PnL and market risk management.
