About the Position

RMR Wealth is seeking a highly motivated, client‑focused Retirement Plan Operations Specialist to join our growing Retirement Plan Team in Montclair, NJ or Scottsdale, AZ. This role is ideal for a recent college graduate or someone currently in an entry‑level position within the financial services industry, who has an eagerness to learn and advance their career. This role will require attention to detail while managing the day‑to‑day operational responsibilities that ensure retirement plans run efficiently and effectively.

As a key member of our Workforce Solutions team, you will serve as a primary point of contact for retirement plan sponsors, participants, recordkeepers, TPAs, and internal advisory teams. Your ability to provide exceptional service, proactively solve problems, manage competing priorities, and maintain strong attention to detail will be critical to your success.

What You’ll Do

Retirement Plan Operations

  • Support the ongoing administration and servicing of qualified retirement plans, including 401(k), Profit Sharing, Cash Balance, Defined Benefit, Multiple Employer Plans (MEPs), and Pooled Employer Plans (PEPs).
  • Coordinate plan implementation, conversions, and onboarding of new clients.
  • Manage service requests and operational issues involving recordkeepers, custodians, TPAs, payroll providers, and investment managers.
  • Assist with plan governance deliverables, including fee benchmarking, investment monitoring, fiduciary reviews, and plan health assessments. Review plan reports, participant data, and operational workflows to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Monitor plan compliance timelines and support annual regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate client records, meeting notes, and service activity within CRM systems.
  • Partner closely with Retirement Plan Advisors to deliver exceptional client outcomes.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes, enhance client service models, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation, benchmarking reports, and prospect presentations.
  • Utilize technology and industry best practices to enhance the retirement plan experience for clients and participants.
Qualifications

Required

  • 1‑3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong understanding of 401(k) plans and qualified retirement plan administration.
  • Experience working with retirement plan recordkeepers, TPAs, custodians, and payroll providers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with Qualified Retirement plans such as 401(k), Profit Sharing, Defined Benefit, Cash Balance, Multiple Employer Plans (MEP), and Pooled Employer Plans (PEP).
  • Experience with in a retirement plan advisory, consulting, TPA, recordkeeping, or wealth management firm.
  • Series 65 license (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience with CRM and retirement plan technology platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
