The County of Warren is currently seeking candidates for the position of Deputy Director/Division Head within the Warren County Public Information Department located in the Wayne Dumont, Jr. Administration Building, Belvidere, New Jersey. This is an exempt, 40-hour per week unclassified position under N.J.S.A. 11A:3-5(l).

POSITION OVERVIEW
:
The County of Warren is seeking candidates for Deputy Director (Division Head) in the Public Information Department. Reporting to the Director of the Department, who reports to the Board of County Commissioners and County Administrator, the Deputy Director under direction plans, directs, and performs work involved in the collection, preparation, and dissemination of information through various media regarding the plans, goals, programs, and achievements of the County of Warren government, and performs other related duties.
The Deputy Director is a member of the team managing a number of programs and projects, including but not limited to:
Online content, including county government websites and social media accounts.
- Printed content, including an annual government directory, periodic newsletters, news releases, advertisements, and more.
- Records management including Open Public Records Act compliance and records retention/destruction.
- Arranging and directing press conferences, as well as print, radio and television interviews of management officials.
- Acting as liaison between various committees and management officials.
Regular attendance at evening meetings and occasional weekend events is required.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
:
Possess effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to prepare a variety of documents and correspondence including brochures, bulletins, and other publications in a clear, concise and professional manner.
Ability to prepare informative articles and news releases for publication via modern media.
Ability to review, proofread, edit and correct written material, and select illustrations.
Ability to capture and edit photographs, video and audio recordings.
Ability to utilize available media for the dissemination of news and information.
Ability to utilize, after training, website content management systems, and to coach other employees in the use of those systems.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with representatives of the media, public officials, and community groups.
Ability to organize assignments and coordinate various activities and the individuals involved in department and committee operations.
Ability to analyze and interpret basic law, relations, policies, and standards and apply them to specific situations.
Ability to maintain records and files.
Possess effective supervisory skills with the ability to supervise and train both entry level and supervisory staff.
Ability to work effectively with associates, superior officials, and members of the public.
Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments with skills in gathering data, compiling information, and preparing reports.
Ability to work in a team environment and to perform the objectives and obligations of the office with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
Ability to manage stressful situations and maintain personal composure throughout.
Knowledge of methods and techniques involved in collecting and analyzing factual data and its interpretation and publication through various media.
Knowledge of the sources from which significant information may be obtained.
Familiarity with Warren County, NJ, its history, geography, county and municipal governmental systems, business communities, and tourism attractions is preferred.
Must maintain ethical conduct at all times.
Must comply with residency requirements of the New Jersey First Act – N.J.S.A. 52:14-7;
Warren County residents preferred.
EDUCATION
:
Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree in a related field such as communications, political science, administration, marketing, government, or other.
EXPERIENCE
:
Five (5) years of experience in public or private sector work involving the collection, analysis, and/or dissemination of information in the field of news media, public relations, publicity, and/or advertising.
