Job Description
  • Leads the development, implementation, and coordination of infection control policies, procedures, and activities under the guidance of the IP Manager.
  • Conducts surveillance, collects, analyzes, and manages infection data.
  • Identifies problem areas and develops evidence‑based solutions.
  • Partners with bed management for appropriate patient placement and ensures correct isolation precautions.
  • Reports infections and outbreaks to CDC, state, and local health departments.
  • Serves as an active member of the Infection Prevention Committee and other hospital committees.
  • Provides infection prevention education to staff, medical personnel, patients, families, and visitors.
  • Collaborates with the healthcare team to promote evidence‑based care and a culture of safety.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education:

RN required;
Bachelor’s preferred.

  • Experience:

    2–5 years clinical experience; infection prevention experience preferred.
  • Certification: CIC required within 2 years of hire.
  • Licensure:
    Active New Jersey RN license (if RN).

Other Desired Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, and HAI prevention standards.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with EMR and Microsoft Office platforms.
  • Ability to organize multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Additional Requirements

  • Rotating 24/7 availability for emergency IPC coverage.
  • Local travel across system facilities as required.
  • Participation in professional development and national standards education (e.g., APIC).
