* * Position Overview
**** ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*** Functions as an integral part of the patient care team by assisting the professional staff in delivering indirect patient care according to unit specific functions.
* Prepares to monitor new admissions by admitting patient to system, enters telemetry number, attaches monitor to patient, verifies clear signal and indicates code status. Observes cardiac monitor patterns under the supervision and direction of appropriate nursing/medical staff members and reports cardiac monitor changes to appropriate staff member.
* Collaborates with RN regarding saving data for patient in system, documents on rhythm strip: PR interval, QRS duration, and rhythm interpretation and prepares strips for RN to validate interpretation and to sign.
* Applies electrodes every 24 hours, troubleshoots any changes in rhythm or loss of signal and tracks patient movements continuously while on the telemetry system. Prints out rhythm strip on each patient every shift, mounts strips and files in patient chart. Monitors patients while off the unit for testing, communicates with other departments to ensure continuous monitoring of each patients.
* Performs Phlebotomy, glucometer testing and EKG responsibilities as required accurately. Stocks Phlebotomy and IV trays for unit. Performs accurate vital signs per unit protocol.
* Assists with CPR under the direction/supervision of a Registered Nurse or Physician.
* Performs clerical duties, computer system tasks, supply maintenance, and other duties as required. Updates, provides accurate report to oncoming CPT upon shift change. Prepares telemetry sheet/monitoring board. Checks and signs name to Unit Code Cart/Carts for operational performance each shift. Notifies clinical equipment and charge nurse of any malfunctioning defibrillator in a timely manner.
* Performs cleaning and maintenance of telemetry unit upon discharge of patient. Retrieves telemetry unit and notifies timely clinical equipment area of any malfunctioning units. Stocks supplies appropriately as required by designated unit. Maintains a well cleaned, organized environment according to established guidelines and procedures.
* Participates in chart review and unit based process improvement projects as needed. Reconciles patient identifier and transmitter number each shift and documents on monitor log form timely and accurately. Maintains patient and medication refrigerator logs.
* Performs other duties as assigned. Willingness to adapt to changing department needs.## MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
* ** Education**:
High school diploma or equivalency. Must attain CRAT (cert rhythm analysis tech) or CET (cert EKG tech – certified through NHA, AAH or NCCT) within 18 months of hire.

** Previous work experience.
* Other Credentials: AHA BLS. Non-Licensed must obtain before end of orientation period

Skills:
** Knowledge of word processing software and data entry skills.
* ** Special Training:
