Job SummaryWe are seeking a Network Operations Tools Engineer to support a 24×7 Network Operations Center (NOC) environment. This role is responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and developing monitoring tools, alerting mechanisms, dashboards, and reports to support enterprise infrastructure monitoring. The NOC monitors availability, events, and anomalies across technical infrastructure including Network, Wi‑Fi, Compute, and Application Services. The ideal candidate will serve as an individual contributor responsible for tool development, system administration, configuration, customization, integration, and operational support of monitoring platforms.
Key Responsibilities- Design, recommend, and integrate monitoring and alerting solutions within Solar Winds, including Service Now integration.
- Perform system administration, configuration, and customization of Solar Winds modules including:
- Network Performance Monitor (NPM)
- Net Flow Traffic Analyzer (NTA)
- Network Configuration Manager (NCM)
- IP Address Manager (IPAM)
- Create and modify customized dashboards using Power BI and Solar Winds SQL tables.
- Gather requirements to design and build enterprise infrastructure and application monitoring systems.
- Analyze monitoring tool design and recommend improvements aligned with industry best practices.
- Validate monitoring systems for performance, fault tolerance, functionality, and operational readiness.
- Perform network/server discovery, device monitoring, and topology visualization.
- Configure monitoring profiles, polling policies, thresholds, and alert conditions.
- Support root cause analysis (RCA) initiatives.
- Automate repeatable monitoring tasks, including alert automation and scheduled reporting.
- Troubleshoot and enhance Solar Winds implementations.
- Maintain runbooks, logs, and records in accordance with ITIL best practices using Service Now.
- Monitor system health and SLA compliance.
- Collaborate with Network, Windows, Cybersecurity, and Infrastructure teams to deliver comprehensive monitoring solutions.
- Support configuration management repository activities.
- Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience with enterprise Monitoring and Observability platforms, including implementation, customization, and operational support.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Solar Winds Monitoring Solutions, including:
- Core components
- Platform architecture
- Alerting and reporting
- Performance optimization
- Experience integrating Solar Winds with Service Now (event, incident, workflow integrations).
- Experience with advanced monitoring and correlation platforms such as Datadog and Big Panda (highly desirable).
- Working knowledge of Syslog and SNMP v2/v3, including trap forwarding, receiving, configuration, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Experience automating monitoring tasks and report scheduling within Solar Winds.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure, applications, and network monitoring domains.
- Experience supporting large‑scale enterprise monitoring environments.
- Ability to coordinate across multiple monitoring tools in hybrid environments.
