Compliance, Risk & Governance Specialist

An established financial institution within the corporate and institutional banking sector is seeking a senior compliance leader to join its second line of defense. The Compliance function supports a strong culture of compliance and ethical conduct by preventing, detecting, and mitigating regulatory, compliance, and reputational risk. It maintains the enterprise compliance risk management framework and leads regulatory engagement across the organization.

The Compliance & Risk Officer is a senior compliance leader responsible for executing and enhancing the organization’s compliance program across key risk areas — including model risk management, third-party/vendor risk, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), and regulatory compliance. The role serves as a trusted advisor to senior management and a primary liaison with regulators, ensuring a proactive and effective compliance posture.

• Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of the enterprise compliance risk management framework, including coverage for model risk management, third-party/vendor risk, cybersecurity, and AI governance.
• Support AI governance — including inventories, risk assessments, and approval processes — and integrate emerging regulatory expectations related to AI, cybersecurity, and data usage into the compliance program. Conduct enterprise compliance risk assessments and drive remediation strategies.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for the institution’s federal regulator, leading and coordinating regulatory examinations, inquiries, and supervisory interactions, and ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent regulatory communications.
• Advise senior leadership and business units on regulatory requirements, emerging risks, and best practices, and review new initiatives, technologies, AI use cases, and vendor relationships for compliance risk.
• Represent Compliance on governance committees and cross-functional initiatives.
• Develop and maintain compliance policies, standards, and procedures aligned with regulatory expectations, and design and deliver targeted compliance training.
• Monitor regulatory developments and translate requirements into business actions.
• Oversee compliance monitoring, testing, and independent reviews of key risk programs; identify control gaps and potential compliance issues and track remediation.
• Report compliance risks, trends, and status to senior management and governance bodies.

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or JD preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in compliance, legal, risk, or regulatory roles within a highly regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks applicable to financial institutions.
• Experience in at least two of the following: model risk management, third-party/vendor risk, cybersecurity/data privacy, or AI/technology risk governance.
• Proven experience managing regulatory examinations and relationships.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
