Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated Technical Consultant ready to take us to the next level! If you have 3–5+ years of experience in IT training, enablement, instructional design, or curriculum development and are looking for your next career move, apply now.

Job Description

We are looking for a Technical Consultant to focus on coordinating training and knowledge-sharing across IT units, ensuring that investments in vendors, tools, and SMEs translate into structured learning, reusable assets, and improved execution across teams. This position will be a full-time contract and hybrid in Trenton, NJ.

Hybrid schedule is desired. 1-2 days per week in person is preferred.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain a ~6-month IT enablement roadmap aligned to key initiatives

  • Partner with SMEs (AWS, Salesforce, Mule Soft, AI, etc.) to identify skill gaps and coordinate training

  • Translate technical knowledge into structured sessions, materials, and reusable assets (playbooks, guides, templates)

  • Design and develop training curriculum and instructional content — not just coordinate delivery

  • Coordinate and schedule training sessions across audiences (executive, supervisor, functional teams)

  • Work with supervisors to align training to real project needs and team gaps

  • Deliver 2–3 pilot sessions (e.g., AI/GenAI, Agile, ITIL) and refine approach based on feedback

  • Establish lightweight tracking for training participation, skill gaps, and adoption

  • Provide periodic updates on progress, engagement, and impact

What You'll Need

Required:

  • 10+ years of overall IT experience

  • 3–5+ years of experience in IT training, enablement, instructional design, or curriculum development

  • Experience working across multiple IT domains (e.g., App Dev, Cloud, IT Operations, Platforms)

  • Demonstrated proficiency with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, or similar) to accelerate content development, training material creation, and documentation

  • Demonstrated ability to build training content from scratch — not solely facilitate existing material

  • Ability to translate technical concepts into practical, user-friendly training content

  • Experience developing roadmaps, training plans, or reusable documentation

  • Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills across technical teams and leadership

Preferred:

  • 12+ years of IT experience

  • Experience establishing or supporting an IT enablement or capability-building function from the ground up

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and ITIL framework

  • Exposure to AI/GenAI tools and use cases in IT environments

  • Experience with platforms such as AWS, Mule Soft, Salesforce, and Service Now

  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) — evaluation, implementation, or administration

  • Experience delivering executive-level presentations or training sessions

  • NJ public sector or large government enterprise experience strongly preferred

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor.
