Maintenance AssociateThe Rescue Mission of Trenton is seeking a Maintenance Associate. The position is supervised by the Manager of Facilities and plays a critical role in conducting and coordinating custodial work within the agency. In addition to routine and non‑routine custodial work, the position works with the agency’s Environmental Services Unit to help create our “Culture of Clean”.
Located in Trenton, New Jersey we serve men and women who have no place else to turn for shelter, clothing, treatment and food. We provide a safe, clean, warm refuge for the homeless, the hungry, the transient and the addicted.
Responsibilities- Clean assigned building areas daily (bathrooms, showers, toilets, floor, carpet, etc.).
- Regularly check premises and perform necessary “light” maintenance tasks.
- Perform heavy‑duty cleaning tasks and projects.
- Inspect the premises and report any issues or repairs to supervisor.
- Perform small repairs as needed.
- Maintain records of receipts and supply purchases as required.
- Maintain building documentation to ensure clean, orderly, and safe conditions.
- Work with supervisor to ensure all safety regulations are followed and the agency meets OSHA requirements.
- Perform regular preventative maintenance on equipment or facilities.
- Assists in maintaining physical facilities (plumbing, carpentry, hand/power tools, etc.).
- Assist in supervision and training of clients in vocational work programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or Associate’s degree required, or equivalent life experience.
- Minimum 1–2 years experience in maintenance and/or engineering field.
- Experience maintaining physical facilities to ensure safety and compliance with building, fire, safety and sanitary codes.
- Experience performing scheduled, unscheduled, emergency repairs to equipment or facilities.
- Mechanical skills including electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of machines.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders.
- Ability to lift over 50 pounds.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Valid driver’s license.
Possible schedule:
Afternoon to early evening, Wednesday–Sunday. Rate: $19 per hour plus a comprehensive benefit and training package.
