Operates Cable Machinery in accordance with operating specifications.
- Set up and operates multiple types of cable machinery including braiders, horizontal taping machines, vertical taping machines, cable etching machine, etc.
- Use of chemicals and solvents occasionally.
- Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
- Use measuring devices such as snap gauges and dial calipers to ensure cable is in spec.
- Adheres to all company safety requirements and procedures.
- Monitors the machinery to ensure proper performance of machines and how they impact the creation of the in process cable.
- Inspect cable for defects, measure cable to determine accuracy of machine operation.
- Informs Cable Engineer if the product falls outside the documented limits.
- Responsible for performing the scheduled preventative maintenance and calibration of machinery.
- Understand and follow SDS (Safety Data Sheets).
- Wear proper PPE to ensure employee safety.
- Maintains the workspace in conformance with the Company’s 5S methodology.
- Provides upward communication to supervisor including but not limited to: new ideas, machine changeover, production updates, etc.
- Monitor cable room to ensure maximum output from machines, notifying supervisor of any foreseen delays.
- Responsible for performing machine maintenance; using other operators to assist.
- Ensure run charts, setup sheets, or any other production paperwork is being filled out correctly in accordance with the procedure and needs of the supervisor.
- Responsible for training new Cable Operators on braiders, tape wrapping, etching, and maintenance.
- Responsible for ensuring material is being used first in, first out to ensure accurate material consumption.
- Review machine setups are accurate in accordance with the process sheet prior to inspection.
- Responsible for maintaining the etching department; keeping it clean and well maintained.
- Ensuring the availability of required parts for machine maintenance by checking current stock levels, and initiating replenishment as needed.
- Scheduling machine maintenance in between productions as needed and choosing the operators to perform it.
- Responsible for the lockout/tagout of the machinery during maintenance or machine malfunction.
- Selecting appropriate machinery for cable production in coordination with the Manufacturing Supervisor.
- Reporting daily performance during SFM meetings.
- All other relevant duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or its equivalent.
- Preferably relevant and completed Vocational Training.
- OSHA Certification preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years relevant work experience as a machine operator.
- Minimum of 5 years working in a factory setting.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a lead operator.
- Preferably 2 years of experience working in the Aerospace & Defense sector.
- Preferably 2 years of experience working in the Industrial sector.
- Effective and clear communication.
- Attention to detail.
- Capable of handling multiple tasks in parallel.
- Fast learner.
- Leader.
- Ability to read and use measuring devices such as snap gauges and dial caliper.

Gloves, safety glasses, respirator, mask, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, non‑slip shoes, hazmat smock. - Must have the physical and mental abilities needed to perform all essential tasks listed; reasonable accommodations may be made to help the job holder perform essential tasks.
