Mechanical Assembly Technician

The Mechanical Assembly Technician performs precision soldering and mechanical assembly of electronic sub-assemblies and main assemblies. This role focuses on soldering wires to terminals, PCB boards, and other wiring components, testing assemblies with a multi-meter, and working from detailed assembly drawings and schematics in a clean production environment.

Responsibilities
  • Solder wires to terminals, PCB boards, and other wires with consistent quality and precision.
  • Perform mechanical assembly of sub-assemblies and main assemblies according to documented procedures.
  • Test completed assemblies using a multi-meter, primarily measuring resistance to verify proper functionality.
  • Read and interpret assembly drawings and schematics to accurately build and verify assemblies.
  • Follow traveler instructions and production documentation in an organized and methodical manner.
  • Use small hand tools, micrometers, calipers, and other measuring devices as required for assembly and inspection.
  • Apply ISO and AS quality system practices to maintain high-quality standards in all work performed.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area within the production environment.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and good hand dexterity to handle small components and precise work.
  • Collaborate with team members and support continuous improvement of assembly and testing processes.
Essential Skills
  • 3+ years of soldering experience in a production or assembly setting.
  • Proficiency in soldering wires to terminals, PCB boards, and other wiring components.
  • Experience working in electronics, manufacturing, or assembly environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings and schematics.
  • Good hand dexterity for handling small parts and performing fine, detailed work.
  • Ability to use small tools safely and effectively during assembly tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • High school diploma or GED.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Familiarity with ISO and AS quality systems.
  • IPC-A-610 and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 certifications.
  • J-STD certification.
  • Experience working under documented traveler or routing instructions.
  • Comfort using hand tools and basic test equipment such as multi-meters.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hamilton, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
