Job PurposeThe Nursing Supervisor assumes responsibility for nursing services delivered to residents, provides direct care, administers treatments and medications, organizes daily assignments for direct care staff, and supervises staff decisions about resident care.
Duties and Responsibilities- Apply geriatric and chronic care nursing principles; identify, implement, and evaluate appropriate objectives and interventions for residents.
- Conduct daily compliance rounds at beginning and end of shift to observe residents, verify information, monitor regulatory compliance, determine staff assignments, and provide/receive reports.
- Monitor delivery of care and services to ensure needs are met, tasks are completed, and work of direct care staff is of acceptable quality and quantity.
- Demonstrate competency in clinical skills required for the long‑term care resident population.
- Collect and analyze data on the physical, behavioral, and functional ability of long‑term care residents.
- Maintain knowledge of laws and regulations affecting nursing facility care.
- Interpret and demonstrate facility policies and procedures to direct care staff.
- Use organizational and interpersonal skills to assign, motivate, and improve staff performance; interact effectively with residents, families, interdisciplinary team members, administration, government officials, and consultants.
- Adhere to facility mission and philosophy in all duties.
- Respect residents’ rights, dignity, and individuality in all interactions.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information.
- Exercise honesty and integrity in all aspects of resident care.
- Ensure “Flow of Care” is followed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Minimum one year of nursing leadership experience in a long‑term care setting.
- Valid nursing license in New Jersey.
