Overview
University Correctional Health Care (UCHC), part of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, provides comprehensive health services to individuals in the criminal justice system. UCHC seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (Mental Health) to provide direct patient care in a night shift, part‑time (20‑hour) role at the New Jersey State Prison, Trenton, NJ.
Responsibilities- Participate in data collection and provide input to the Registered Nurse to inform the plan of care.
- Deliver direct patient care within scope of practice to ensure implementation of the plan of care.
- Inform and instruct patients or significant others on health status and plan of care.
- Assist patients or significant others with discharge planning and home health maintenance.
- Document all aspects of patient care.
Minimum salary: $32,520 per year
Mid range salary: $33,020 per year
Maximum salary: $34,010 per year

- Valid registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
- Current CPR certification.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- At least six months experience in an acute hospital setting.
Must be able to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes. Physically capable of lifting and rotating patients up to 50 pounds.
Special ConditionsPosition requires approval by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adherence to all DOC requirements.
