Registered Nurse – Psychiatric

Job Summary:

Provide specialized inpatient psychiatric nursing care to patients, ensuring safety and treatment compliance. Float across mental health units to meet staffing demands while maintaining high standards of care.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans for psychiatric inpatients.
• Administer medications and therapies following prescribed protocols.
• Monitor patient behavior and mental status, documenting findings accurately in Cerner EMR.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and discharge planning.
• Ensure safety protocols are followed, especially during patient interactions and transfers.
• Respond promptly to crises, utilizing CPI techniques to de-escalate situations.

Qualifications:

• Valid RN license with at least 2 years of inpatient mental health experience.
• Must have MST experience and be capable of floating between units as required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications.
• CPI certification obtained or scheduled before the document deadline.
• Proficient in using Cerner EMR system.
• Strong communication, assessment, and crisis management skills.
