Trinidad State College seeks a highly motivated, dynamic individual to teach in a successful Gunsmithing program. This is a full-time position beginning the fall semester of 2025.
Examples of Duties- Responsible for instruction of theory and practice in the classroom and lab.
- Remains current with Gunsmithing regulations, knowledge, and skills.
- Teach 15 credit hours per semester in Gunsmithing courses.
- Actively support students through advisement, mentoring, and student work-study related activities both on campus and off campus.
- Actively contributes to campus, program functions and services, including recruitment, committees, assessment, curriculum development, and continuous improvement activities for the Gunsmithing department.
- Must hold, or qualify for and obtain, a vocational teaching credential through the Colorado Community College and Occupational Education System.
- Demonstrate experience and/or willingness to learn and use technology for instructional delivery and other office duties.
- Must be agreeable to work with a diverse population and with all ranges of student abilities.
- Use appropriate evaluation instruments to measure student progress at specified intervals.
- Develop and use assessment of student learning methods and contribute to campus wide assessment projects.
- Develop and maintain curricula that appropriately reflect current knowledge in the discipline.
- Assist in recommending purchases and maintaining accurate inventories.
- Provide direction and involvement in all aspects of program implementation, including
- curriculum design, refinement and sequencing, classroom/lab design, hardware/software selection, student recruitment, business and industry contacts, graduate placement, and any other activity necessary.
- Cooperate with departmental faculty in the selection of textbooks and teaching materials.
- Demonstrate dedication to the teaching function using effective teaching materials that utilize multimedia classroom instruction.
- Demonstrate an understanding of subject matter well beyond the introductory textbook level.
- Demonstrate expertise in machine tools.
- Develop critical thinking exercises and well-organized lectures.
- Must have a strong commitment and positive attitude toward Community College instruction.
- Pursue and maintain partnership activities related to the Gunsmithing program.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned.
- Associate’s degree in Gunsmithing Technology or equivalent education and experience in the gunsmithing industry.
- Ability to teach in traditional and non-traditional formats and settings(evenings, weekends).
- Ability to be credentialed utilizing the Colorado Community College System, Career and Technical Education requirements.
