Position

Summary

The Ameri Corps member will serve as part of the Education Department at the Trinidad History Museum, working directly under the Education Coordinator. The primary focus is to support and deliver high‑impact educational programming to K‑12 students, emphasizing equitable access to culturally relevant history education. The member will facilitate Hands‑on History programs, field trips, and other student‑focused experiences. As capacity allows, the member may also assist with community events, adult educational programming, and broader outreach initiatives.

Terms

of Service
  • Location:

    Trinidad History Museum.
  • Service: 20 hours per week on average, for a minimum of 900 hours over the service term.
  • Hours:

    Flexible, including occasional evenings and regular weekend commitments.
  • Supervision:
    Directly supervised by the Education Coordinator with additional support from the Program Manager.
  • Term:
    September 8, 2026 – August 20, 2027.
  • Orientation:
    Mandatory on September 8 and 9, 2026 at the History Colorado Museum in Denver.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Facilitate educational outreach—including field trips, classroom visits, and interactive activities.
  • Collaborate with museum staff and community partners to expand program reach and impact.
  • Lead tours and engage visitors by sharing site‑specific and historical information.
  • Provide front‑line visitor support: answer questions, offer exhibit information, and enhance visitor experience.
  • Represent the museum at community and school events (e.g., parent‑teacher conferences, resource fairs, farmers markets) to promote program offerings.
  • Participate in professional development and contribute to ongoing improvement of educational initiatives.
  • Support and facilitate other History Colorado community engagement and story initiatives as needed.
Service Term Overview
  • March–May:
    Assist with spring educational programming, including camps, field trips, and outreach activities.
  • May–August:
    Support Summer Camp with preparation, facilitation, and cleanup.
Ameri Corps Member Perks
  • Living allowance up to $18,000 (pre‑tax), distributed biweekly over 50 weeks.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • U.S. citizen, U.S. National, or Lawful Permanent Resident.
  • Ability to pass a criminal history check.
  • Strong interest in history, education, or a related field.

Salary is competitively determined through an analysis consistent with Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act regulations, taking into account experience, education, location, and internal equity.
