Position Summary
The Ameri Corps member will serve as part of the Education Department at the museum, working directly under the supervision of the Education Coordinator. Their primary focus will be to support and deliver high-impact educational programming to K-12 students, with an emphasis on equitable access to culturally relevant history education. The member will play a key role in facilitating Hands‑on History programs, field trips, and other student‑focused educational experiences.
As capacity allows, the member may also assist with community events, adult educational programming, and broader outreach initiatives.
- The Member will serve at the Trinidad History Museum.
- The member will serve an average of 20 hours per week during the 50-week service term (minimum 900 hours).
- Flexible hours required, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Direct supervision by the Education Coordinator with additional oversight from the Program Manager.
- Service term:
September 8, 2026 – August 20, 2027. - Mandatory orientation on September 8 and 9, 2026 at the History Colorado Museum in Denver.
- Facilitate educational outreach such as field trips, classroom visits, and other interactive educational activities.
- Collaborate with museum staff and community partners to enhance program reach and impact.
- Lead tours and engage visitors by sharing site‑specific and historical information.
- Provide front‑line visitor support, answering questions and enhancing the overall visitor experience.
- Represent the museum at community and school events to promote program offerings.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to ongoing improvements of educational initiatives.
- Support and facilitate other History Colorado community engagement and story‑initiative projects as needed.
- March–May:
Assist with spring educational programming, including camps, field trips, and outreach activities. - May–August:
Support Summer Camp with preparation, facilitation, and clean‑up.
- 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A U.S. citizen, U.S. National, or Lawful Permanent Resident.
- Ability to pass criminal history checks.
- Strong interest in history, education, or a related field.
- Resume and cover letter required.
- Living allowance up to $18,000 (pre‑tax), distributed in biweekly installments.
- Segal Education Award of $3,697.50 for qualifying members.
