Who We Are:
Trinidad State College, located in Trinidad, Colorado, is a state-supported, two-year institution of higher education. The College was established by an act of the State Legislature in 1925, and is the oldest public two-year college in the State of Colorado. The College’s Service Area includes eight rural counties characterized by low population density and small communities. One campus is located in Trinidad and is a residential campus while the other, located in Alamosa, is a commuter campus.
Both campuses serve distinct populations. As a comprehensive Community College, Trinidad State College not only offers ongoing transfer Associate of Arts Degree and Associate of Applied Science (vocational) Degree programs but also has developed and implemented numerous successful short-term vocational certificate programs, and totally inclusive adult education and developmental programs.
Job Summary:
The Learning Systems Coordinator helps faculty and students use digital tools, software, and hardware to improve learning. They bridge the gap between IT staff and educators by providing training, troubleshooting technical issues, and evaluating new classroom technologies. This includes support for academic courses, self-paced learning modules, audio/video components, and other training resources for faculty, staff, and students.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serve as a primary campus resource for D2L Brightspace and other student learning programs.
- Assist faculty in adopting instructional technologies that support active learning and student engagement.
- Offer drop in consultations, virtual office hours, and classroom visits to support technology enhanced teaching.
- Support compliance with the Healthy Course Checklist (HCC) and Panorama accessibility.
- Design, coordinate, and deliver training programs for faculty, staff, and students on institutional learning technologies.
- Develop onboarding and ongoing professional development opportunities related to D2L, Navigate, and other educational technology platforms.
- Provide functional support and training for EAB Navigate and related student success technologies.
- Support development of technology-driven student success initiatives.
- Assists faculty and administration with identifying and analyzing Artificial Intelligence (AI) utilization and limitations in alignment with academic integrity standards.
- Collaborate with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Information Technology, and institutional committees.
- Research emerging educational technologies and recommend innovations that improve student learning and success.
- Participate in strategic planning and technology-related initiatives.
- Monitor usage and adoption of instructional technologies.
- Generate recommendations related to training effectiveness and system utilization.
- Use data to inform continuous improvement efforts.
Competencies/KSAs:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in education, instructional technology, educational leadership, information systems, or a related field.
- Two years of experience supporting technology use.
- Experience delivering training programs.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially when supporting faculty with varying levels of technical proficiency.
- Ability to translate complex technical processes into clear, practical training for faculty and students.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in higher education.
- Experience with learning management systems.
- Knowledge of online learning standards, accessibility requirements, and instructional design principles.
- Experience creating multimedia training materials.
