STATEMENT OF DUTIESSUMMARY OF JOB CLASSIFICATION: Performs entry/developing-level Probation Officer responsibilities, including investigation, assessment, supervision, resource coordination, and monitoring of clients’ court-ordered for services. Completes required training courses and programs.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTSMINIMUM QUALIFICATION WAIVER APPROVED:
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university with major course work preferably in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work or related field.
OR
Additional work experience in these or other related fields may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required formal education. An Associate's Degree may count for two of the four year educational requirements.
Upon hire and as a condition of continued employment, the employee must:
- Complete all Safety Training courses as per state policy.
- Individuals assigned field supervision responsibilities must successfully complete the Officer Field Safety course as per state policy.
- Complete Mandatory New Employee Training required by the Colorado Judicial Branch.
- Complete the initial Probation Academy and subsequent academies in years two, three and four as established by the Division of Probation Services and through Colorado Probation policies and standards and receive a grade of 75% or greater on all post-training exams.
- Complete all other trainings as required by Colorado Probation policies and standards.
This is a part-time (26hrs/week) Probation Officer position in our Huerfano County office that is located at:
200 East First Street
In addition to this open position, this posting will serve to form a Talent Pool for additional Classified or Contract positions that may open soon.
Salary offers are based on a wide variety of factors including a candidate’s experience, skills, and education, as well as budget availability. The full salary range at 0.65 FTE for this position is $3,164.33 - $4,588.33 per month. Job offers are typically made at the lower end of the salary range. Salary growth within the job classification is based on performance awards, salary survey increases, etc.
At the present time there is also an available Temporary Salary Contract for an additional 6 hours per week through 6/30/2027, with the possibility of renewal depending on available budgetary funds. The salary range for this 6-hour contract is $730.23 - $1,058.84 per month. Ideally, the successful candidate would be hired to both positions.
