This position is only open to Colorado state residents. However, vacancies that are located within 30 miles of the state border are exempt from the residency requirement. Therefore, applications will be considered from residents and non-residents of Colorado for Trinidad.
Job Location:
This recruitment is for the Trinidad Correctional Facility. The eligibility list created from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies. This Correctional Support Licensed Trades Supervisor II (CSLTS II) is a Licensed Electrician Lieutenant at the Trinidad Correctional Facility, a Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) prison facility in Trinidad, CO.
- Maintain safety and security of facility and work sites
- Clearly and accurately communicate to train staff and inmates in the proper use of controlled items, keys, tools, equipment, chemicals and procedures.
- Conduct work site searches, monitoring workplace environment and inmate behavior.
- Initiate verbal reprimands when warranted, and if necessary, physically control inmates with the proper application of restraints or 'use of force' techniques.
- Provide supervision or work lead duties of assigned staff, promoting a high level of performance by setting the work standard.
- Promote safe construction/work practices and the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Participate in hiring process
- Implement (or provide work lead input) in Performance Management Program (PMP) for assigned staff
- Coach and mentor staff regarding agency processes, encouraging a cohesive team, career development and ensuring the completion of annual training.
- Resolve conflict and informal grievances at the lowest level possible
- Ensure safe, efficient, compliant and cost effective electrical systems and their preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance.
- Plan projects by reviewing work order, reading blueprints, anticipating challenges, researching historical data and obtaining vendor price quotes.
- Coordinate logistical support with the other trades and shops, utilizing resources efficiently, assigning tasks, inspecting work and ensuring timely completion of projects.
- Ensure strict compliance with the National Electric Code (NEC) and all other applicable regulations, policy, guidelines and standards, keeping accurate and timely records.
- Maintain adequate inventory of supplies
- License – Active Journeyman or Master Electrician license issued by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA). A copy of your license must be attached.
- Experience – Five (5) years of employment experience performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance and/or installations of electrical systems.
