Electrician/ Electrician Installation
Performs tasks and activities related to assisting in the installation, maintenance, testing, operation and repair of the electrical distribution and generating systems of the City of Trinidad Power & Light Department. This will include but not be limited to 120 volts DC and all AC voltages from 12 up to 13,800 volts.

Regular and predictable attendance in the performance of this job is an essential function.
- Performs work related to the installation, maintenance, testing, operation and repair of the electrical power distribution and generating systems of the City of Trinidad, Power & Light Department on all voltages encountered in the system including 120 volt D.C. and all A.C. voltages from 12 up through 13,800.
- Operates all equipment, machinery, hand tools and other devices assigned to the Power and Light Department.
- Performs first echelon maintenance of equipment as assigned. Responsible for equipment as assigned by Line Supervisor.
- Requires the agility and ability to climb wood poles, operate equipment safely and correctly, perform delicate maneuvers of equipment and devices around live electrical equipment and wiring and to work in inclement weather.
- Attends technical training classes as directed and/or desired.
- Performs all the duties (including manual labor) necessary to carry out the day-to-day operations of the Power and Light Department.
- May be required to work extra overtime hours, weekends or holidays in the event of emergencies. Hours of work are generally 7:00 am to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Must respond to emergency call outs and participate in the “on call” program.

Education and Experience:
- Two (2) to Three (3) years related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic electrical knowledge required.
- Certification from lineman school preferred
- Experience in electrical distribution as a Lineman is highly preferred.
- Must possess a valid current state-issued driver’s license, not under suspension, revocation or denial nor have any prior alcohol related driving offenses within the last five years. A Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake endorsement is required or must be acquired within six (6) months from date of hire at the applicant’s expense.
- Successful candidates must pass a background investigation, drug screen and physical examination in accordance with job duties prior to employment.
- Must pass City’s Drug & Alcohol program, including pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return-to-duty testing and follow-up testing.
