Assembler
The Assembler performs mechanical assembly and installation of parts using hand and power tools in a production environment. This role includes MIG welding on carbon and mild steel, cutting parts using pre-fabrication equipment, and working with automotive wiring and wire harnesses. The Assembler contributes to a progressive assembly line, meets production standards, and works both independently and as part of a team while maintaining a safe and organized work area.
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical assembly and installation of parts using hand tools and power tools.
- Carry out MIG welding on carbon and mild steel components as required.
- Cut parts and materials using pre-fabrication equipment such as cutting torches, plasma cutters, and grinders.
- Read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and blueprints to complete assembly tasks accurately.
- Install and route automotive wiring and wire harnesses, including crimping and securing connections.
- Work on a progressive assembly line and consistently meet established production and timed job standards.
- Use pneumatic and battery-operated hand tools safely and effectively during assembly operations.
- Operate shop equipment including overhead cranes and other material-handling devices as needed.
- Maintain attention to detail in all aspects of the job to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to specifications.
- Keep the work area neat, clean, and organized throughout the shift.
- Work safely in a production environment, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with team members while also being able to perform tasks independently.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and adaptability to changing production needs.
Essential Skills
- Strong mechanical skills with hands-on assembly experience.
- Ability to read and understand schematics, diagrams, and blueprints.
- Previous work experience in an assembly environment.
- Automotive wiring experience, including wire harness installation and crimping.
- Experience working against timed job standards with a proven record of meeting completion and production targets.
- Capability to perform MIG welding on carbon and mild steel.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools, including pneumatic and battery-operated tools.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Commitment to working safely in a production environment and following PPE requirements.
- Strong attention to detail in every aspect of the job.
- Ability to maintain a neat, clean, and organized work area.
- Progressive assembly line capabilities and comfort working in a structured production process.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in the truck equipment industry or a closely related industry.
- Familiarity with pre-fabrication equipment such as cutting torches, grinders, and plasma cutters.
- Experience operating overhead cranes and other material-handling equipment.
- Ability to provide and maintain a personal set of tools appropriate for mechanical assembly work.
- Positive attitude and a strong willingness to learn new skills and processes.
