Career Systems Development Corporation Careers seeks a Social Development Specialist to support young adults' personal, social, and life skills growth in a Job Corps center. In this on-site role within Education & Training and Community & Social Services, you will provide case management, supportive counseling, and crisis intervention; lead social-emotional and life-skills groups; and coordinate referrals to internal and community resources.
You will collaborate with academic, career training, and residential staff to promote accountability, respect, and inclusion while helping students remove barriers, stay engaged in training, and successfully transition to employment or further education in a structured, mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide social development and supportive counseling services to Job Corps students to promote personal, social, and emotional growth.
- Conduct intakes, assessments, and ongoing case management, documenting student progress and interventions accurately.
- Develop and monitor individualized social development and behavior plans aligned with students' education and career goals.
- Facilitate life-skills, conflict resolution, and social-emotional learning groups in a structured, student-centered environment.
- Coordinate referrals to internal and community resources, ensuring wraparound supports for at-risk students.
- Collaborate with education, training, residential, and counseling staff to address behavior, attendance, and engagement issues.
- Respond to student crises using de-escalation and trauma-informed approaches, following program policy and safety procedures.
- Promote a culture of accountability, respect, and inclusion consistent with CSD's mission and Job Corps standards.
- Engage families and community partners, when appropriate, to support student retention, completion, and successful placement.
- Track outcomes and prepare reports to support continuous improvement of student support and development programs.
