Responsibilities
The Administrative Secretary in the Military Affairs office and Troy for Troops Center provides administrative support to the Director of the Troy for Troops Center and the assigned Vet Success on Campus counselor. Duties include working with students; fielding telephone calls; greeting and directing visitors; filing and maintaining files; drafting correspondence; managing and ordering office supplies; retrieving and distributing mail; scheduling and coordinating meetings, appointments, and special events;
assisting with budgets; routing and processing various paperwork; recording meeting minutes from committees and advisory groups; assisting with travel arrangements; coordinating and maintaining VA work‑study students’ watch bill and support documentation; preparing and mailing UPS/Fed Ex packages; and performing other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of three years of clerical office work experience
- Excellent computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
- Excellent skills in written and verbal communication
- Organizational skills
- Ability to work with diverse groups of people
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Veteran with honorable discharge, Service Member (National Guard or Reserve), or Spouse of a Service Member/Veteran.
- Knowledge and experience in the use of Datatel
- Experience working with military affiliated students
Ability to lift heavy packages in preparing for shipping to worldwide locations; typically no more than 25 lbs., but occasionally, in excess of 25 lbs.
Work HoursMonday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
