This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of various types of construction equipment. The candidate must have at least two years of experience operating a loader either on road construction projects or in a quarry or asphalt plant.

• Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ensure safe slopes on excavations and proper barricading.
• Locate utilities and other buried lines prior to digging.
• Perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor; knowledge of trenching and shoring standards is required.
• Keep time and material records.
• Travel from interstate highway to rural dirt roads in various locations.
• Maintain knowledge of aggregate sizes and classifications.
• Know weight requirements of loads leaving the pit.
• Lift up to 30 pounds and perform necessary movements such as walk, stoop, squat, sit, kneel.
• Understand equipment uses and apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying).
• Read tape measures for basic measurements.

• Minimum two years of loader operation experience on road construction projects, in a quarry or asphalt plant.
• Knowledge of trenching and shoring standards.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds and perform required movements.
