This student worker position is responsible for leading the Civic Lab, supporting student engagement by connecting learning to real community needs through hands-on programming and partnerships, including a collaboration with the David Mathews Center for Civic Life. This role assists in planning and facilitating workshops and discussions for college students, while also working directly with youth in local schools to deliver activities related to civic responsibility and community involvement.
Responsibilities include coordinating and leading volunteers, organizing events, supporting outreach efforts, and helping plan and implement initiatives such as a summer civics camp for elementary students. The position also involves collaborating with campus and community partners and assisting with basic program tracking and evaluation. This role also contributes to broader Office of Civic Engagement initiatives, helping connect students with meaningful opportunities to serve and engage in the community.
