Job Summary
The Lecturer/Assistant/Associate Professor position in the College of Education is a tenure‑track faculty role within the Department of Counseling, Rehabilitation, and Interpreter Training. It presents an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and growing counseling program, preparing the next generation of professionals through teaching, mentorship, and research.
Faculty members are responsible for teaching online graduate courses in rehabilitation and clinical mental health counseling, conducting and publishing scholarly research, and engaging in service to the department, university, and broader professional community.
Key responsibilities include providing academic advising and mentorship to graduate students, supervising practicum and internship students, and managing essential administrative duties such as course scheduling, student recruitment, maintaining online office hours, and participating in faculty meetings.
Faculty are also expected to proctor and grade comprehensive examinations, attend regional faculty meetings, and actively contribute to the advancement of CACREP‑accredited programs.

Minimum Qualifications- Earned doctorate in counselor education from a CACREP‑accredited program or an accredited institution with a strong commitment to CACREP standards.
- Licensed or license‑eligible as a professional counselor (LPC) or certified rehabilitation counselor (CRC).
- Demonstrated ability to engage in research and scholarly publication in counseling or related fields.
- Experience with CACREP accreditation processes and expectations.
- Higher education teaching experience in a counselor education program.
- Direct clinical experience as a clinical mental health counselor or rehabilitation counselor.
- Eligibility for licensure as a professional counselor (LPC) in the state of Alabama.
Driving may be necessary but is not a primary responsibility.
Work HoursBased on teaching schedules and departmental needs.
