Job Summary
The Assistant Professor/Associate Professor position in the College of Education is a tenure‑track faculty role within the Department of Counseling, Rehabilitation, and Interpreter Training. This position also serves as the Coordinator of Rehabilitation, providing leadership and oversight for the rehabilitation counseling program. It offers an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and growing counseling program, preparing the next generation of professionals through teaching, mentorship, research, and program coordination.
Faculty members are responsible for teaching online graduate courses in rehabilitation and clinical mental health counseling, coordinating and supporting the rehabilitation counseling program, conducting and publishing scholarly research, and engaging in service to the department, university, and broader professional community.
- Teaching online graduate courses in rehabilitation and clinical mental health counseling.
- Providing academic advising, mentorship to graduate students, and supervision of practicum and internship students.
- Managing course scheduling, student recruitment, office hours, faculty meetings, and program coordination for the rehabilitation counseling program.
- Proctoring and grading comprehensive examinations, attending regional faculty meetings, and contributing to the advancement of CACREP‑accredited programs.
- Conducting and publishing scholarly research in counseling or related fields.
- Engaging in service to the department, university, and broader professional community.
- Earned doctorate in counselor education from a CACREP‑accredited program or an accredited institution with a strong commitment to CACREP standards.
- Licensed or license‑eligible as a professional counselor (LPC) or certified rehabilitation counselor (CRC).
- Demonstrated ability to engage in research and scholarly publication in counseling or related fields.
- Experience with CACREP accreditation processes and expectations.
- Higher education teaching experience in a counselor education program.
- Direct clinical experience as a clinical mental health counselor or rehabilitation counselor.
- Eligibility for licensure as a professional counselor (LPC) in the state of Alabama.
Based on teaching schedules and departmental needs.
