Warren Averett Recruiting is assisting a client in the Troy, Alabama area with the search for an IT Support Specialist II. This role provides advanced technical support and serves as a critical bridge between frontline helpdesk technicians and the network/systems administration team.
The IT Support Specialist II delivers Tier 2 and Tier 3 support to end users, assists with maintaining and enhancing IT infrastructure, and supports the administration of network, server, and security systems. This individual is expected to resolve escalated technical issues, contribute to system stability, and participate in IT projects under the direction of supervisory personnel.
- Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support for escalated helpdesk tickets, including hardware, software, and network‑related issues
- Assist with system and network administration tasks such as user account management, patching, inventory tracking, and routine maintenance
- Perform advanced troubleshooting of workstations, servers, switches, firewalls, printers, and enterprise applications
- Monitor system and network performance and escalation critical issues to leadership as needed
- Participate in IT infrastructure initiatives including system upgrades, network enhancements, and migrations
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting activities
- Collaborate with helpdesk staff to provide training and mentorship, helping elevate the overall technical skill level of the team
- Ensure compliance with IT policies, security standards, and best practices
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and networking environments
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper‑V, vCenter), backup solutions, and endpoint security tools (EDR)
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Background or exposure to cybersecurity threats and prevention preferred
- Experience working with APIs is a plus
- Industry certifications (CompTIA Network+, Security+, Microsoft, Cisco CCNA) preferred but not required
- Associate's degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent hands‑on experience
- 2–4 years of IT support experience, including exposure to Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 365, and networking fundamentals
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Reliable, consistent, and punctual attendance is essential, including the ability to work regular schedules, overtime, and occasional weekends
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team across departments or independently as needed to meet internal and external customer requirements
- The work environment is typically moderate in noise level
- This role is based in a manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration
