Responsibilities
The Undergraduate Research Assistant position in Biological and Environmental Sciences will be part of a series of aquatic surveys and associated lab work. Duties may include preparation of field gear, collecting invertebrates, quantifying habitat, animal holding and maintenance, mesocosm construction, lab experimentation, entering data into Excel, and associated tasks. Some driving may be required.
Minimum Qualifications- Must be a Troy University student
- Must have a flexible summer schedule
- Ability to swim
- Ability to perform as part of a team under strenuous conditions
Field experience in biological collections. Interest in freshwater mussels and/or crayfish.
Work HoursMonday – Friday as weather and river conditions allow.
Hazardous Conditions or Physical DemandsField work includes exposure to various climatic conditions (hot, cold, rain, etc.) and is physically and mentally demanding. Requires heavy lifting, being submerged for long periods of time, and exposure to the elements.
