We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Manager (Partner track) to join our client’s office in Troy, Michigan. As a pivotal member of the team, the Tax Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing various aspects of the accounting operations, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory standards. - Serve as a primary point of contact for key client accounts, maintaining strong relationships and addressing client needs effectively.
- Oversee financial statement preparation, analysis, and reporting, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP standards.
- Prepare and file federal and state tax returns for individuals, families, and small businesses.
- Collect and organize financial data from clients, including income statements, receipts, and relevant documentation.
- Review clients' tax documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with the IRS and Michigan state regulations.
- Assist clients in understanding their tax situation, offering tax planning/advice and guidance on deductions, credits, and exemptions.
- Stay updated on Michigan and federal tax law changes and incorporate these updates into tax preparation practices.
- Identify potential tax-saving opportunities for clients and advise them on strategies for optimizing tax returns.
- Respond to client inquiries regarding tax issues, providing excellent customer service and ensuring a positive experience.
- Work closely with other team members to maintain accurate records and meet filing deadlines.
- Mentor and coach team members, providing guidance on professional development and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency enhancements within accounting operations, implementing best practices as needed.
- Collaborate effectively with partners, colleagues, and other departments to achieve firm objectives and deliver exceptional client service.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and recognize outstanding contributions from team members.
- Professional Development - Stay current with industry trends, developments, and best practices through ongoing professional development and training initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification is required.
- Extensive experience (5+ years) in public accounting, with a focus on audit, tax, or advisory services. Desire to be on Partner track.
- Proven track record of success in a managerial or leadership role within an accounting firm.
- Strong technical proficiency in accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and firm leadership.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop team members.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to accuracy and quality in all aspects of work.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
