Staff Accountant

A great UHY client is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will have their Bachelors (or at least be working towards it), some experience with Accounts Payable, some Excel experience, and some Quick Books experience.

The Staff Accountant role is a hybrid position, with 2 days each week being onsite. This is a client direct hire position.

Staff Accountant Key Responsibilities

• Assist in monthly close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
• Support accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Help maintain Quick Books Online, ensuring transactions are correctly classified and documented
• Assist with restricted fund and grant tracking, working closely with development and program teams
• Support budget monitoring and internal reporting
• Prepare reports for leadership and assist with the year-end audit process
• Reconcile credit card activity (e.g., Divvy) and assist in monitoring expense documentation and compliance
• Provide backup and support across accounting functions as needed

Staff Accountant Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (can be working on)
• 1–3 years of relevant experience (nonprofit experience a plus)
• Strong proficiency with Quick Books Online, Excel, and general ledger functions
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a team environment
• Mission-aligned with an interest in contributing to a meaningful, community-based organization
