The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the firm's day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with legal industry accounting standards, and supporting firm leadership with financial analysis and decision-making. This position plays a key role in managing general ledger activities, trust accounting compliance, month-end close processes, budgeting, and financial reporting for partners and management.

The ideal candidate possesses strong accounting expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and experience working in a law firm or professional services environment.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Analyze financial results and provide variance analysis.
  • Manage attorney trust (IOLTA) accounts and ensure compliance with state bar regulations.
  • Perform monthly trust account reconciliations.
  • Perform all bank reconciliations each month.
  • Support internal and external reviews and/or audits.
  • Ensure vendor payables or processed timely and in accordance with guidelines.
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports for CFO and Managing Partner.
  • Review billing and collections activity.
  • Analyze realization, utilization, and profitability metrics.
  • Assist with special projects and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA preferred but not required.

Experience:

5+ years of progressive accounting experience; law firm or professional services experience preferred.

Technical

Skills:

Strong GAAP knowledge, accounting software proficiency, advanced Excel skills, budgeting and forecasting experience.

Reports directly to the Controller.
