Our firm’s assurance practice has been growing and needs personnel capable of assisting with assurance engagements without constant direction. The assurance staff position would be assisting with and eventually leading audit and review engagements from planning to conclusion for various types and sizes of entities. The position would also require preparation of compilation engagements, or non-assurance financial statement preparations for the purpose of tax return preparation.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare planning documentation for audit or other assurance engagements, including materiality and risk assessments, internal control walkthroughs, and understanding of the entity and its environment
  • Prepare audit procedures including analytical and substantive testing
  • Use analytical skills to analyze a trial balance for necessary inquiries, adjustments, or support requests
  • Document reasonable expectations based on preliminary audit procedures
  • Develop and document sampling and testing methodologies based on relevant facts about the client, prior year engagements, and audit standards
  • Document meaningful conclusions that allow us to substantiate our overall opinion and level of assurance provided
  • Keep contact with client to communicate support needs, present inquiries, analyze documentation and inquiry responses for necessary follow-up, and to explain proposed adjustments or new accounting standards in a way the client can understand
  • Perform special projects and/or other duties as assigned
  • Communicate engagement issues with managers and partners in a timely manner and analyze the implications on the engagement
  • Focus on developing skills and building technical skill base
  • Responsibilities increase with demonstrated skill

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • CPA license preferred or current pursuit of licensure
  • 2-5 years of assurance experience
  • Must have intermediate level computer skills or must be able to learn new software quickly. (Quick Books, Ultra Tax, Microsoft Office)
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
  • Ability to research accounting or assurance issues using reputable sources including GAPP publications, and Accounting Standards Codifications
  • Strong organizational skills & attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical thinking skills
  • Ability to interact positively in a professional manner with partners, coworkers, and clients
  • Eagerness to learn, contribute, and engage
