Position Summary

The Testing Center Service Assistant is responsible for administering, proctoring, and monitoring exams in a secure, professional, and student‑focused college testing environment. This role ensures the integrity of testing processes by enforcing academic policies, verifying student identification, and maintaining optimal testing conditions. The position provides excellent customer service to students, faculty, and visitors while supporting a distraction‑free testing space. In addition to regular proctoring duties, this position assists in exam scheduling, maintenance of Testing Center procedures, and acts as a back‑up to the Testing Center Service Specialist for specialized, virtual, and off‑site testing.

Duties
  • Support daily Testing Center operations, including opening/closing, managing student flow, and assisting with scheduling and payment verification for non‑student clients.
  • Maintain a secure, professional testing environment that promotes integrity and student success.
  • Administer and proctor computerized and paper‑based exams in accordance with instructor guidelines, Testing Center procedures, and external agency requirements, including academic, placement (ACCUPLACER, ALEKS, ESL), high‑stakes (GED, TEAS, CLEP), and external exams.
  • Receive, secure, distribute, and return testing materials in compliance with established protocols.
  • Monitor testing sessions to prevent and address misconduct; identify, document, and intervene in cases of academic dishonesty. Use campus security systems to monitor activity, investigate incidents, and document findings; collect, review, and securely distribute related evidence according to institutional policies. Create accurate incident reports to communicate complete details to the Manager.
  • Conduct investigations and collaborate with faculty and administration to resolve violations.
  • Communicate effectively with students, instructors, administrators, and external partners; provide guidance on procedures, results, and score reports.
  • Exercise sound judgment and independent decision‑making to resolve issues and maintain efficient operations.
  • Assist students in identifying their needs and connecting them with appropriate college resources and services (e.g., Learning Support Services, Certification Testing, Adult Transitions) to ensure accurate placement and service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records; enter, retrieve, and analyze data using Testing Center systems and prepare reports as needed.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, create support tickets, and ensure resolution.
  • Guide students through the Honorlock writing placement test; identify, document, and report issues promptly.
  • Identify system errors, create support cases, and collaborate with technical support teams to resolve application issues.
  • Maintain and update GED testing software. Utilize Admissions Manager, Delivery Manager, Remote Maintenance Agent, and Service Direct to process admissions, manage materials, deliver exams, and document irregularities; troubleshoot and coordinate with Pearson VUE Support Services and Channel Quality to resolve issues.
  • Oversee placement testing for WTMC students, dual enrollment, and the WCC Bridge program.
  • Obtain and maintain required certifications from external testing agencies (e.g., Prometric, ETS, Pearson VUE), including annual recertification.
  • Administer secure testing services for external organizations using proprietary systems.
  • Handle confidential candidate information in compliance with security and privacy regulations.
Supplemental Duties
  • Maintain inventory of testing and office supplies.
  • Respond to phone and email inquiries; provide accurate information and route appropriately.
  • Maintain customer feedback surveys.
  • Assist in training and directing part‑time proctors to ensure efficient operations and compliance.
  • Serve as secondary proctor for remote, in‑person, and off‑site specialized testing (e.g., TEAS, high school placement exams).
