A day in the life

The purpose of the Culture & Well‑being department is to help clients create culture and employee experiences where thriving people drive business success.

The Culture & Well‑being Specialist primarily supports the MMA‑Michigan Culture & Well‑being practice with day‑to‑day tasks related to our purpose and the culture and well‑being needs of colleagues and clients. This includes assisting with the development of culture and well‑being strategies, programs, and communication materials; reviewing and analyzing data; evaluating vendors and their performance; and helping create new toolkits and resources.

Beyond client and colleague support, there are opportunities to participate in work groups, collaborate with MMA’s network of National Health Management Consultants, and engage in projects that foster career growth and skill development.

This position can be based out of our Troy, MI or Grand Rapids, MI offices.

Essential Functions
  • Support the MMA MI Culture & Well‑being team by assisting with the development and enhancement of consulting approaches and processes, following industry best practices, processes, and strategies to support employee health and well‑being.
  • Observe client well‑being strategy meetings and participate as needed (note: this role does not lead client meetings).
  • Assist in the development of culture and well‑being strategies by compiling and evaluating data and supporting the creation of recommendations to positively impact client culture and well‑being.
  • Support vendor reviews, evaluations, and the collection of pricing and capability information for requests for information (RFIs) and requests for proposals (RFPs).
  • Assist in the development and creation of toolkits, resources, trainings, and other client deliverables – this includes maintaining knowledge and awareness of trends in culture and well‑being industry.
  • Support the preparation of engagement survey and employee value proposition (EVP) survey responses and related culture practice deliverables.

Collaborate with the Culture & Well‑being team and client service teams to help develop and support the delivery of periodic workshops and seminars for clients and prospects. Establish and maintain familiarity with carrier, community, and vendor services, resources, and products to support client needs. Acquire and apply knowledge of behavioral science, writing, and marketing concepts to support the integration of culture and well‑being messaging for clients.

Collaborate with national health management consultants and the national PATH (Planning and Analytics for Total Health) team as needed. Familiarize yourself with local and national resources such as communication toolkits, health fair planning guides, vendor dashboards, and dimensions of well‑being frameworks. Gain a high‑level understanding of Marsh McLennan Agency (MMA), including:

  • Each business area (EHB, BI, Retirement, etc.)
  • Roles and functions of the EHB team and other departments
  • Marsh’s overall organizational structure

Provide administrative support including preparing Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, and other materials as needed. Attend team meetings, MMA‑MI all‑colleague meetings, regional and national meetings, and other relevant events as required. Support special projects and initiatives assigned by the Culture & Well‑being Manager.
