About the Role:As a Country Customs Manager, you will lead and coordinate the definition of standards, procedures, RASIC, guidelines, tools; maintain the corporate database; build training modules and training path both on site and with external experts. You will analyze the impact of legislation evolutions versus international flows; identify the priorities to maximize the service level, minimize the customs costs and customs risks;
while promoting the right usage of customs regimes/facilitations toward Purchasing and Project networks.
- Promote total compliance with customs legislations and rules;
- Benchmark permanently the best customs practices inside and outside Valeo; share best practices with customs network;
- Contribute and help initiatives and actions at regional level to reduce customs costs, through certification, special regimes and continuous improvement workshops. Ensure that customs network is working on appropriate priorities leading to cost efficient targets, saving actions, man power synergies; encourage inter-region cooperation;
- Participate in customs brokers selection and negotiate customs framework agreement in co-operation with purchasing team; meet the brokers’ contacts on a regular basis to identify and implement saving opportunities;
- Build customs KPI and dashboard, consolidate Customs actions in
-30 plan; - Help region’s relation with customs administration to set up certifications / regimes and to deal with Customs crisis, help to negotiate with tax management and legal, tax and fine collection (if any) providing technical support; assist in problems troubleshooting and implement solutions with local teams to maintain the continuity of production flow.
- Contribute to Group Ethics & Compliance program by applying and respecting code of Ethics and Valeo’s policies
- People management: Supports in the training and career development of Customs people. Creates a proactive team within their perimeter and helps identify high potentials.
- Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Customs Administration, or related field is required.
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in customs operations, import/export compliance, or trade management — ideally within the automotive or manufacturing sector.
- Experience managing country-level customs compliance and working with customs authorities and trade regulators.
- Customs Broker License or recognized certification in customs compliance is required.
- Strong analytical skills
