Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Supply Chain / Intl. Trade
Position Summary
The Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for daily operations for M.E. Divisions’ Trade Compliance functions, data management systems, special import trade programs and overall import feasibility aspects of the import environment. This position supports the necessary interaction within the different M.E. Divisions, Departments within M.E., and M.E. service suppliers to ensure that M.E. is paying the appropriate amount of duties and on a timely basis to the applicable Customs agencies.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Onsite assessments of M.E. Divisions
- Data mining, classification review for accuracy
- Assist and follow through of open items
- Support development of corrective actions with Customs Agency
- Customs inquiries/ actions/ CBPF-28/ CPPF-29 responses
- Classification
- FTAs
- Support broker directive functions
- Troubleshoot concerns and patterns a broker is following
- Identify options for issue resolution
- Monitor exception reporting and resolution
- Daily operations in the M.E. Divisions Trade Compliance System (IP)
- ACE reports as requested
- Classification process
- Review and modify current HTS classifications as necessary by M.E. Division
- Assign commodity HTS numbers on new parts, engineering change, service parts, etc.
- Recordkeeping for “proof” of HTS assignment
- FTA/Country of origin solicitations
- Work with and support 3rd party service provider for supplier solicitation
- FTA/USMCA checklist on receipt of vendor/supplier documents
- Work with vendor/suppliers on missing and/or incorrect documents
- FTA qualification processing
- Support M.E. Divisions on FTA qualification
- Customer request
- Support M.E. Divisions to complete and send to customers as applicable
- Post entry audit internal controls and processing
- Investigate identified exceptions
- Work with divisions on potential resolutions
- Confirm identified options to Sr. TC Specialist/Trade Compliance Manager and communicate to broker as required
- Assist as required in project completion or any other assigned task
- Customs Broker’s License, CCS - Preferred
- Some technical knowledge of Customs Regulations and Trade Program Requirements
- Basic understanding of Customs Compliance Requirements (Canada and U.S.)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Self‑motivated, flexible, detail oriented and able to meet tight deadlines
- Strong investigation and problem‑solving skills
- Team‑oriented work ethic
- Strong Microsoft application skills in Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
- 1–3 years of Customs experience
- 1–3 years of strong Classification experience
- 1–3 years of strong FTA/USMCA Solicitation, Qualification, Customer Responses experience
- 1–3 years of practical experience in ACE
Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer and in manufacturing facilities.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally if required.
