We are seeking a knowledgeable and dependable Part-Time Building Inspector to support our community’s construction and safety standards. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who values flexibility and takes pride in ensuring quality workmanship and code compliance.

Strong understanding of building materials, construction methods, and standard practices, along with the ability to recognize faulty or hazardous conditions.

Minimum of six (6) years in the building construction field as a contractor, foreman, inspector, or equivalent combination of training and experience.

• Registration as an Inspector and Plan Reviewer in accordance with Public Act 54 of 1986
• Current State of Michigan Inspector Registration (Building and/or Plan Reviewer) required
• Candidates with active ICC certification eligible for Michigan registration are encouraged to apply

• Ability to interpret plans, blueprints, and technical specifications
• Strong knowledge of code enforcement practices
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds
• Capable of standing, walking, climbing, and performing inspections in various environments
• Comfortable working in conditions that may include heights, humidity, or near mechanical systems

• Part-time, as-needed position
• Primarily daytime hours with flexibility based on inspection demand
